This month, alongside organising everything for the holiday season, in your business, you might be planning for the new year. If this is the case, it’s a good time to start thinking about the photography you may need for the new year – in terms of both products and people.
Studio Photography:
As a photographer, I’m lucky to have a small studio where I can photograph a range of different things.
Although I say my studio is small, I do have the space to photograph small to medium pieces of furniture. This is sometimes more helpful than trying to take photographs in a shop or the furniture-makers workshop, which can have very busy backgrounds that then detract from the product.
I’ve also photographed a small moped/scooter in the studio, where I was able to take close-up shots of specific areas- again, without too much going on in the background.
When photographing either products or portraits, I have a number of backdrops available, including green screen, which allows for creative overlays.
With product photography the items are prepared for e-commerce and catalogues. Included in product photography are Pack shots, which means capturing the product, including the packaging and label. These type of images are often used on a brand’s website and are part of their overall marketing and advertising material. The background has to be appropriate to the product, so it can be quite a creative type of photography, therefore it’s important for me to talk with my client beforehand. This is to ensure that I produce the type of images that support their brand, in terms of look.
Portraits and Pet shoots are printed and framed upon request (I don’t have the setup currently to showcase different finishes)
I often photograph pieces of sculpture, and these are often photographed against a white background, so that there is nothing else to detract from the artwork itself.
The different types of things I photograph, some of which already mentioned include products, antiques, furniture, paintings, artwork, bronzes, paintings and machined parts.
Portrait photography, business headshots, and pet photography are also things I can photograph in my studio.

Business and product photography:
This type of photography is when I’m photographing products, where they need to be in-situ. It could be lifestyle photograph, where for example, a piece of modern or antique furniture photographed is in a home, or a product is being used at a specific location.
Also, I might have to go along to photograph a business client when they’re working in their own premises, or when they’re working on location.
Headshots can be taken in my studio, or alternatively, if you want team shots of your employees, you may choose to have them photographed in your own premises, or outside of your premises.
You might like to have family photos; a group, or couple, or including your family pet (either with you or alone) – and again either at your own home, or on a location that is special to you.
Sometimes people like to have staged or themed photo-shoots.
I also offer Aerial and Video options for shoots.
The requirements for on-location shoots require planning and risk assessments with a recce often required prior to the shoot. And for particular shoots, complex lighting setups, additional cameras, video cameras and drones may also be required.
If you are planning for any of these types of photography, then please contact me, so we can discuss how I can help. neil@moore-photographics.com
